CostHonest

Terms of Service

Effective August 3, 2026 · costhonest.com
The short version: the calculators give honest typical-range estimates — they are information, not quotes, contracts, or professional advice. Businesses can rent a lead-capture widget for $79/month, cancel anytime, and the widget switches off when the subscription does. Be decent, don't misuse the service, and verify big decisions with real professionals.

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and CostHonest ("we", "us"), operated from Ontario, Canada. By using costhonest.com, an embedded CostHonest widget, or a widget subscription, you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use the service. Contact: support@costhonest.com.

2. The free calculators are information, not advice

Every number this site produces — project costs, mortgage payments, loan interest, retirement projections, BMI, calories, all of it — is an estimate built from typical ranges and stated planning assumptions. It is not a quote, an offer, a contract price, or financial, lending, tax, legal, medical, or nutritional advice, and using the calculators creates no professional relationship of any kind. Real prices vary with real conditions; real products quote real rates; real health decisions belong with clinicians. We work to keep the ranges honest and current, but we do not warrant that any figure is accurate, complete, or fit for your situation — verify anything that matters with a qualified professional before acting on it.

3. Quote requests through a business's widget

Businesses that embed our widget are independent companies. When you submit your details through their widget, we deliver your request to that business (see the Privacy Policy), but we are not a party to anything that happens next. We do not vet, endorse, or guarantee any business, its estimates, its work, or its conduct — the estimate a widget shows uses that business's own pricing, and any eventual contract is strictly between you and them.

4. Widget subscriptions

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to break the law, deceive people, or harm others. Don't scrape, resell, reverse engineer, or systematically copy the calculators or their data. Don't submit false quote requests, and don't misrepresent whose business a widget belongs to. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practical.

6. Availability and changes

We run the service carefully on reputable infrastructure, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may improve, change, or retire features; if a change materially reduces what a paid subscription includes, we will give subscribers reasonable notice by email.

7. Intellectual property

The site, the calculators, their code, design, and content belong to CostHonest. Using the service grants you no rights in them beyond what these terms state.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: we disclaim all warranties, express or implied; we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or lost profits, revenue, or data; and our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Indemnity (business subscribers)

If you subscribe as a business, you agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your pricing, your use of leads, your marketing, or your breach of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes belong to the courts of Ontario, and you and we each attorn to their jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the new version appears here with a new effective date; material changes are announced to subscribers by email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance.
